The SEA Group is a major driver of economic and employment growth in Lombardy.
This is especially true of the municipalities adjacent to the two airport areas which enjoy the continuous economic benefits provided by employment and by the distribution of added value to the families of SEA employees and the personnel of all the other companies and entities that operate within the airport system.
There is no doubt that the Milan airport system has played the role of attracting capital to the area, generating job opportunities, and activating or catalysing investment initiatives.
Equally evident is its role as an extraordinary driving force for some specific economic sectors, such as those related to tourism, logistics, transportation, and trade.
In line with the most popular approaches in the literature on transportation infrastructure and networks, direct, indirect, induced, and catalytic impact analyses have been combined and integrated with the aim of seeing the social-economic spillover effects which the airport is directly involved in and generates, as opposed to being just an activator of, or even a central, though not exclusive, protagonist of.
