Milan, 23 May 2011 – Silk Way Airlines is pleased to announce the opening of a new MALPENSA-BAKU cargo flight operating from today with a Boeing B747-400F.Silk Way Airlines is the first private Azerbaijan airline to obtain ISO 9001:2008 certification in April 2009 and UKAS and ANAB accreditation for national / international commercial cargo transport from SGS. The airline is optimistic about the future, extending its network of clients and operations steadily over recent years. Today it offers scheduled and charter flights to more than 50 destinations worldwide, including Afghanistan, Iraq and West Kazakhstan. Silk Way Airlines offers a broad range of international cargo services carrying petroleum and gas equipment, construction materials, heavy manufacturing equipment, automobiles, vehicles and spare parts, humanitarian aid, livestock, perishable goods, foodstuffs, materials and equipment for trade fairs, consumer goods to order and dangerous materials/substances to full ICAO standards. Cargo insurance covers all transport risks including loss and damage. The entire Silk Way Airlines fleet is covered by third party liability insurance and the crew is insured on the London Insurance Market.Silk Way Airlines has its hub at Baku Cargo Terminal, the biggest and most advanced terminal in the CIS with an area of 12,800 square meters and a handling capacity of 30,000 tons. Baku Cargo Terminal handles 160-200 tons of cargo traffic a day to/from destinations around the world including transit connections.
