After two difficult years for the aviation sector, we are back in profit. In 2022 our investments focused on innovation, sustainability, security and infrastructure to guarantee a passenger experience that moves with the times.

Sustainable airports and safe, easy and comfortable travel are targets we are constantly redefining. We did so again in 2022 with innovative projects designed to promote the green transition inside and outside our airports.
IMPACT
The role played by our airports
The heart of our business, essential for the growth of one of the most productive and developed regions in Europe: Milano Malpensa and Milano Linate connect the whole of northern Italy with leading international destinations. An open door to the world.
Milan Malpensa Cargo City
Malpensa Cargo City is the national hub for the distribution of import and export goods. Again in 2022, it was the only Italian airport equipped to handle large numbers of all-cargo flights.
- 31,700 all-cargo movements in 2022 (+158% compared to 2019, pre-pandemic benchmark).
- Around 717,200 tonnes of goods transported in 2022 (+30% compared to 2019, pre-pandemic benchmark).
BUSINESS SEGMENTS
Our business in numbers
We manage and develop two major airports: we keep people moving.
The Commercial Aviation business includes the Aviation business — operating, developing and maintaining airport infrastructure and providing SEA Group customers with services related to aircraft landing and departure and airport security — and Non-Aviation business — commercial services for passengers, operators and visitors, and real estate sector.

INVESTMENTS
Looking to the future
Infrastructural improvements are moving ahead at the Milano Linate and Milano Malpensa airports. With the resumption of air traffic linked to the end of the emergency and the cancellation of all remaining restrictive measures, we have rescheduled certain investments to guarantee the reopening of Terminal 2 at Malpensa, which is currently closed due to reduced air traffic following the pandemic.
Milano Malpensa: terminal
- Introduction of the new self-service bag drop.
- Installation of new equipment for checking hold baggage.
- Layout changes to increase the transit space available for passengers.
- Seismic upgrading of the roof and renovation of infrastructures and safety systems.
- Works activated for the “Smart Security Project” (installation of new automated lines and EDS equipment).
- Installation of self-service bag drops in the check-in area and adaptation of the HBS system in Terminal 2 to ECAC Standard 3.
Milano Malpensa: flight infrastructure
- Completion of improvements to the functionality and reliability of the luminous visual aids system.
- Continuation of works for an Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) for aircraft and vehicles in manoeuvring and movement areas.
Milano Linate: terminal
- Completion of works for the “Smart Security Project” (new automated lines and EDS equipment)..
- Activation of works for the upcoming implementation of “Entry Exit System” procedures.
Milano Malpensa and Milano Linate: ICT projects
- Airport operating system, facility management, workflow and document management updates.
- Upgrading of network infrastructures and the BHS Baggage Handling System.
